Blog Post 6: Diigo and Web 2.0

Hi all!

I'm back again for my weekly blog post. Today I would like to briefly discuss my experience using a handy dandy software known as Diigo. For those of you who haven't used it, Diigo is an interactive program that allows you to bookmark websites, blogs, and PDFs onto their website. With the Diigo extension on chrome, you can even highlight and add notes to the website. You can then review these notes and highlights on your Diigo profile. I absolutely love this program and would recommend it to teachers, students, and anyone who's interested in learning new skills!

My experience with this blog has been so much better than other forms of digital media I've used in the past. The layout of blogging feels so much more streamlined than social media platforms and I love that I can type as much as I'd like and add pictures. I've learned a lot about how to insert hyperlinks since I started this blog and have absolutely LOVED using them. One thing that I would change on this blogging website is the ability to add photos and videos. I feel the framework of inserting photos could use some updating.

Recently I learned about the difference between the original web and web 2.0 and have come to realize that with the addition of web 2.0, there are so many interactive educational tools to use on the internet. One of these tools is known as Bamboozle. I came across Bamboozle, while reading a review on various web 2.0 softwares. Bamboozle is a website that allows teachers to create games or quizes (similar to buzzfeed). The cool thing about Bamboozle is it can turn any educational setting into a Jeopardy game show. Players (students) can all play from the central smartboard or can play on their individual devices to quickly answer questions made by the teacher. Students can split into teams as well. This tool can be used on the first day of class as a way for students to get to know each other better or at the end of the year as exam practice.
